Sooraj Pancholi Cleared Of Abetment Of Suicide Charges In Jiah Khan's Case Due To Lack of Evidence By The Special CBI Court- Read REPORTS
Almost 10 years after Jiah Khan’s suicide, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has now cleared her then boyfriend, actor Sooraj Pancholi from the chargers of abetting her suicide. At the age of 25, she was found hanging in her apartment in Mumbai on June 3, 2013. The later actress’ mother Rubia Amin had gone on to hold Pancholi responsible for her daughter taking such an extreme step. 

In her testimony, she had claimed that her daughter was ‘physically and verbally’ abused by the Hero actor. According to the report by Indian Express, the special CBI court that is currently in session has cleared Sooraj of all the charges. On Friday, they acquitted him because of lack of evidence. The media publication stated that it is because of ‘paucity of evidence against Pancholi’. For the unversed, raised in London, Jiah has moved to India to pursue a career in Bollywood. She had made a name for herself by starring in critically acclaimed movies like Nishabd, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan’s Ghajini and Sajid Khan’s comedy caper Housefull. She was found dead at her residence in Juhu in 2013. She had left behind a six page letter in which she had explained how she was leading an unhappy life with Sooraj. Son to actors  Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi, he was then taken into custody for a week after her suicide. While he was released on bail shortly after, the Bombay High Court had asked the CBI to thoroughly investigate her death.
